Disposable Chairman of Hypocrisy

Turns out we have an ally in our campaign for an open and independent A-League.  Our own chairman.  I swear I almost broke something when this came across my Twitter feed today.

I was going to write paragraphs of ramble on this but I can't do better than what the article already displays so I will just bring you back to this paragraph which I blatanty stole here:

What it has made clear though is that some of the irrational decisions attributed to David Gallop would appear to have come from the meandering mind of the FFA's head dictator.  What is also pretty obvious is that Lowy still hasn't woken up to the fact that it's no longer 2003, and Oz football fans are no longer even residually concerned about clubs having undue influence on the decision-making process. They're a bit more concerned about the FFA treating the clubs like serfs.
It turns out Frank Lowy only wants control of the whole environment when it's his control, not when it is the control of the people who now have a vested and financial interest in the success of the league.  Remember that the future of soccer and for the individual clubs within the code is looking anything but promising in this context and it will not improve until there are radical changes to the control and administration.

...and as a final note please follow the work of Les Street on Twitter or wherever.  Les is the biggest nerd on Australian football, it's venues and it's history as well as a former Neighbours pin-up but mostly he's a passionate fan who is loved and known across the A-League.

  1. This must be from no later than late seventies - early eighties, as the Phillips League was formed after the 1974 World Cup participation by Australia, but if I recall disappeared by mid eighties?
